Beylin Development is excited to announce the groundbreaking of its newest project at 298 Main Street in Yarmouth, Maine. This event not only marks the beginning of construction for a much-anticipated mixed-use building but also was for a good cause, having raised over $2,600 for the Village Nursery School, a Yarmouth nonprofit.
The groundbreaking ceremony was part of a larger meetup hosted by Beylin Development that brought together developers from across the country to share innovative solutions for increasing housing. Among the attendees was realtor and former state senator Matt Pouliot, who discussed the critical housing shortage in Maine and shared his insights on how off-site construction methods can contribute to bringing housing to market faster. “Our nation is facing a severe housing crisis that demands a concerted effort from all sectors. Educating others on how they can contribute to the solution is paramount. I commend Beylin Development for their proactive role in bringing developers together and accepting the challenge of building housing here in Maine with projects like 298 Main and the Reserve at Windham project,” said Pouliot.
The project at 298 Main Street has been in the planning, design, and historic review process for over four years, reflecting meticulous efforts to align with the character and heritage of Main Street Yarmouth. “We understand the importance of this project to Yarmouth, having engaged with residents, town historians, and those active in planning. This will be one of the more prominent buildings to be constructed on Main Street in decades. We extend our gratitude to the town, planning board, and historic preservation committee for their valuable input,” said Peter Anania, Partner at Beylin Development and resident of Yarmouth.
“We are thrilled to break ground on this project, which not only supports our vision for developing high-quality housing but also benefits the local community,” said Simon Beylin, President of Beylin Development. “As a former endodontist and current owner of several pediatric dental offices, my wife Mona and I are passionate about supporting children. Raising funds for the Village Nursery School is particularly meaningful to us, and it underscores our commitment to giving back.”
Significant progress has already been made, including the demolition of the preexisting structure, paving the way for new construction. The project is being funded by Gorham Savings Bank, which has a location next to the project at the historic Grand Trunk Railroad Depot.
The project has garnered substantial support from the town, reflecting the community’s recognition of its design, prominence, and potential to enhance local housing and retail options. Beylin Development appreciates the valuable input from various committees, including the historic planning committee, which has played a crucial role in the project’s progress.
